Change to new carpet or wash it?

I have been asked this important question time over time “Is it better to for me to change to new carpet, or should I just clean it?”.

Well, there’s no certain answer to that. Choosing between changing new carpet & getting it cleaned pretty much depends on several factors like Personal Preference on Carpet Design, Budget, Hygienic Concern, and the Lifespan of the Carpet. Listed below are some of the important factors to consider:

Lifespan of the carpet

If you happened to be renting a used place in Singapore, chances of used office carpetbeing installed is high, and usually is quite “used”. At this point, you need to decide if you need to change to new carpet, continue to use it without washing, or continue to use it after washing.

If you are renting the place for only 2 years, it is advisable not to change the carpet. Reason is because a normal carpet can last longer than that, and it would mean that you are benefiting the next tenant. Not that this is wrong. Just a matter of $$$ if you know what I’m talking about.

How to judge if the carpet is wash-worthy?

Carpet of good condition can last for another 5-10 with no major issues. I have seen our customer bragging about how they managed to maintain the carpet for over 10 years.

But how to do you tell if the carpet is wash-worthy? Here are a few tips to identify those un-washable carpets.

1- Botak – Usually these are due to high traffic volume & caused by hard sole shoe and it’s better to replace those Botak carpet tiles. One other common example is caused by roller chair…Oh yes. The hair or fiber of the carpet is usually worn off & you can barely recognize the original design of the carpet anymore. Pretty much like a boy after Tekong Camp Training. Their girlfriend and relative can barely recognize them too.

2- Dead Carpet – Basically these are those carpet that are being stepped on for a very long period of time, and have no chance to breath. You can however, still recognize the carpet. But unfortunately it doesn’t feel as soft & fluffy as before. There are however 50% chance of recovery as Alphakleen Singapore offer a state of the art cleaning solution that agitate the carpet upward that kind of revive the carpet at the same time.

3- Stains & Dirt Mark – 90% of the stain marks can be removed via professional cleaning. We have professional spot removal kit imported from Germany to do the job right.
